Kitchen Um-ummm GOOD! The kitchen facilities of the Calvary Child Development Center operate with a restaurant license, so the North Carolina Department of Environmental Health inspects our kitchen every three months. Our nutritious menus for snacktime and lunch are planned using the USDA requirements for child care. We serve the children over and above the required menu portions. Teachers come back for second helpings if a child expresses that he or she is still hungry. Menu selections are based on a well-balanced choice of meat/proteins, vegetables, fruits (FRESH as often as possible), starch side dishes, whole grain breads, enriched or fortified cereals, and 100% fruit juices. For the daycare students, we provide a snack – and we work to provide snack items with the least amount of sugar! Lunch is never boring! We rotate foods from month to month, introducing a variety of foods but keeping items on the menus that the children eat particularly well. We try to introduce new foods when available and make the foods as appealing to the children as possible! Printer-friendly page | ||||||
